House Colour Visualiser
Choose painted weatherboards or stained cedar, then try Dulux paint colours and Resene Woodsman stains on the walls, trim, front door and roof of a drawn house before you talk to us about your home.
What you can choose
The visualiser draws these on a house when JavaScript is switched on in your browser. Without it, this is the list of what it offers.
Finish
- Painted weatherboards - the walls in a Dulux exterior paint colour.
- Stained cedar - cedar boards in a Resene Woodsman exterior wood stain.
Boards
- Weatherboards - horizontal boards, each lapped over the one below.
- Vertical boards - boards running from the ground to the eaves.
Paint colours
The walls, trim and front door can be any of the Dulux Most Loved Exteriors colours, with the names Dulux gives them, grouped the way Dulux groups them. Our team is Dulux accredited, and the colours you like here are a good place to start your free colour consultation.

Cedar stains
Stained cedar is shown in the Resene Woodsman range of exterior wood stains, every colour Resene shows on cedar, with the value Resene gives each one. Resene says it plainly on its Woodsman wood stain page: stains are transparent, so the final colour depends on the timber being stained. A flat swatch on a screen will look darker and flatter than real stained cedar, where the grain shows through.

A drawing, not a photograph
The house is a drawing, not a photograph of a job, and a colour on a screen is a guide only. Dulux advises testing a colour at home with sample pots and A4 colour swatches before you choose, and Resene advises trying a stain on an offcut of the same timber first. Whichever finish you are leaning towards, we can talk it through with you at a free colour consultation. Call us on 027 857 3100 or use the form below to book a free colour consultation and quote for your exterior house painting.
Stained cedar in photographs
Vertical cedar cladding and a timber deck with a stain finish. A stain is transparent, so on real timber the grain and the timber itself change how the colour looks.
